  • The Lion and the Sun is one of the oldest emblems of Iran, an image that for centuries appeared on the flags, coins, and insignia of this land, eventually becoming one of the most recognizable symbols of Iranian identity.

Historians and scholars of symbolism note that the origins of this image lie in the meeting point of Iran’s astronomical, mythological, and royal traditions. In these traditions, the sun represents farr—the divine radiance, light, and continuity of the Iranian world—while the lion stands for courage, sovereignty, and the guardianship of that light.

Over time, the two together came to represent something greater than a heraldic emblem.
A lion standing before the rising sun appears almost as a guardian of brightness itself, a reminder that power only has meaning when it protects light and freedom.

The French Iranologist Eugène Flandin, writing about Iran in the nineteenth century, observed that the Iranian people could reclaim their lost strength if they revived patriotism and uprooted despotism; and then, as he wrote, “the banner of the Lion and the Sun would regain immense significance.”

This bracelet is more than an ornament.
It is a reminder of a symbol that has been bound to the name of Iran for centuries:

A lion that guards the sun,
and a sun that recalls the enduring light of Iran.
